California Health Alert Network (CAHAN)

The California Health Alert Network (CAHAN) is a state-sponsored cloud-based system used by the CDPH and local health departments (including San Joaquin County Public Health Services) to send health alerts, advisories, and information to health care providers and professionals working in the medical services (e.g., acute care, intermediate care, long term care, assisted living, adult day health centers, rehabilitation care, dialysis, ambulatory surgery, clinics, blood centers, outpatient, hospice, home health, medical groups, etc), public health, environmental health, emergency medical services, healthcare allied services (e.g. laboratorians), healthcare payor organizations, and emergency management and response partners.

CAHAN links critical health and emergency response partners together to provide:

  • A rapid and secure communications system among state and local health agencies, health care providers, emergency management officials, and other emergency response partners
  • The dissemination of announcements from local, state or federal public health authorities to inform health and medical service personnel of likely or imminent dangers to the health of their community
  • A secure collaborative environment to develop and share information for emergency preparedness planning and response

To receive CAHAN messages, complete the CAHAN Enrollment Form and email it to the San Joaquin Public Health Services CAHAN Administrator at ep-info@sjcphs.org.

Please visit CDPH’s California Health Alert Network (CAHAN) website for further information and the latest CDPH health alerts, advisories and updates.
